Curtis Memorial Library is seeking an experienced tech guru to the public and to library staff. Part IT pro and part teacher, the ideal candidate knows their way around hardware and software setup and maintenance, and is also eager to bring their skills to the public by teaching classes and providing one-on-one tech help to patrons. Primary Responsibilities Setup and maintenance of staff and public PCs, printers and other hardware Software installation, upgrades, and maintenance Troubleshooting and assistance with the A/V system for staff and the public Serves as an emergency contact for any technology-related emergencies and as the secondary contact with the contracted Managed Service Provider (MSP), the VOIP phone service provider, the Internet Service Provider (ISP), and the Integrated Library Software (ILS) provider Shares responsibility for adding and editing content on the librarys website via WordPress Creates and updates IT documentation Provides one-on-one technology instruction and assistance to patrons, including Tech Wizards drop-in service Teaches monthly topical technology classes to the public Assists the Manager of Technology & Training with staff technology training Works with the Manager of Technology & Training on special projects and technology planning Keeps up-to-date on emerging technologies to support both the librarys needs and the needs of the community May occasionally provide basic reference assistance and instruction at a service desk Skills and Qualifications Experience with Windows Server 2016, Windows Server Update Services, and Active Directory Familiarity with: Adobe Creative Suite Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and databases Office 365 and SharePoint Online Ability to troubleshoot Windows, Android, and Apple operating systems Familiarity with managing a WordPress-based website (updates, plugins, etc.) Knowledge of filtering, security, and firewall applications Experience with library and public access catalog software a plus, but not required Enthusiasm for digital literacy and for sharing skills with fellow staff members and the community Experience with teaching, training, and instruction Excellent communication skills! Ability to effectively communicate ideas and thoughts both verbally and in writing Ability to adapt to changing needs and to recognize and set priorities Ability to perform tasks requiring some bending, lifting, pushing, and walking; sufficient manual dexterity, ability to speak, and vision to perform job-specific tasks Availability to work a varied schedule that includes occasional weekends and evenings and response to emergencies Bachelors degree in computer science, or comparable education and/or experience 2-5 years of experience in technology-related positions Associated topics: affair, associate, college, college counselor, coordinate, elementary school counselor, office assistant, school guidance counselor, school nurse, secretary
